2017 Releases – Books, TV Shows and Movies

The most anticipated releases of 2017 including new book series, novel sequels, new tv shows, new seasons of old tv shows and new movies!

Books –

1. Carve the Mark – Veronica Roth

It  is a science fiction young adult novel. It is the fourth novel by Veronica Roth being published on January 17, 2017 by HarperCollins. It is the first release in the duology. The story follows Akos and Cyra, young people from opposing cultures whose fates are intertwined.

2. History is all you left me – Adam Silvera

When Griffin’s first love and ex-boyfriend, Theo, dies in a drowning accident, his universe implodes. Even though Theo had moved to California for college and started seeing Jackson, Griffin never doubted Theo would come back to him when the time was right. But now, the future he’s been imagining for himself has gone far off course. It is going to be published by SoHo Teen and released on January 17th, 2017.

3. That Hate U Give – Angie Thomas

Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, Angie Thomas’s searing debut about an ordinary girl in extraordinary circumstances addresses issues of racism and police violence with intelligence, heart, and unflinching honesty. Soon to be a major motion picture from Fox 2000/Temple Hill Productions.

4. Cold Summer – Gwen Cole

Kale Jackson has spent years trying to control his time-traveling ability but hasn’t had much luck. One day he lives in 1945, fighting in the war as a sharpshooter and helplessly watching soldiers—friends—die. Then the next day, he’s back in the present, where WWII has bled into his modern life in the form of PTSD, straining his relationship with his father and the few friends he has left. Every day it becomes harder to hide his battle wounds, both physical and mental, from the past.

TV Shows –

1. Homeland

The sixth season of the American television drama series Homeland will premiere on January 15, 2017, on Showtime, and will consist of 12 episodes. Taking place several months after the previous season, Carrie Mathison is back in the United States, living in Brooklyn, New York with her young pre-school aged daughter. She is now working at a foundation whose efforts are to provide aid to Muslims living in the United States. Peter Quinn is alive but has suffered a major stroke and is incapacitated.

2. Riverdale

Take “Twin Peaks,” mash it up good with “Gossip Girl,” and add in a dash of ginger, and you’ve got The CW’s gritty adaptation of the Archie comics franchise. Season 1 releases on Jan 26.

3. Game of Thrones

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have just two more seasons to wrap up the various scattered plots in George R.R. Martin’s sprawling world. Season 7 releases in the summer of 2017.

4. Girls

The final season of Girls may not be the end of the era, but it does feel like an end of an era. The trailer for the sixth season indicates the series will return to its classic “how can I make my mark on this city” roots, with an added element of self-awareness. Tune in to watch Hannah Horvath get a stable job, build a healthy romantic relationship, and (possibly) open up a Roth IRA! Hope springs eternal, right? Releases on 12th Feb

Movies –

1. Logan

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces. Releases on March 1st.

2. Beauty and the Beast

Belle (Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful and independent young woman, is taken prisoner by a beast (Dan Stevens) in its castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the beast’s hideous exterior, allowing her to recognize the kind heart and soul of the true prince that hides on the inside.

3. The Fate of the Furious

Now that Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are on their honeymoon, Brian and Mia have retired from the game, and the rest of the crew has been exonerated, the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman seduces Dom back into a world of crime that he can’t seem to escape, the crew will face trials that will test them as never before.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Capt. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) feels the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost sailors led by his old nemesis, the evil Capt.
